The tremendous escalation of the Indian Woodworking industry and its continuous growth into a refined and mechanized sector has opened up a huge opportunity for the global Woodworking sector majors to explore. India at present has about 1,00,000 plus registered Woodworking units and more than 2,00,000 artisans along with countless other Woodworking related units in the sector. Rapid urbanization, changes in socio-economic structure, greater awareness among consumers about wood coatings, increased activity in construction and furniture are expected to influence the demand for adhesives, epoxies and wood coatings in India. Woodworking adhesives and wood finishes use is driven by the growth of the Furniture industry in India, which is estimated to be worth Rs. 350 billion. Home furniture is the largest segment in the Indian furniture market, accounting for about 65 percent of sales followed by the office furniture segment with a 20 percent and the contract segment accounting for the remaining 15 percent. It is estimated that the demand for furniture space in India will grow at a CAGR of 20 percent over the next 3-5 years. This is expected to drive the growth of the Woodworking solutions business in India. Indian industrial demand for wood, jumped from 58 million cubic meters in 2000 to 85 million cubic meters in 2008 and is expected to cross 150 million cubic meters by 2018.

Background
Given the geographical size of India & the unprecedented growth in the country, there was a latent need for a comprehensive exhibition to address the need of the North-Indian, North-East Indian & Central Indian market. To cater to this market segment, the organisers of INDIAWOOD, created a platform in 2009 called DELHIWOOD, held from 14 – 17 February 2009 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This event drew tremendous response with over 300 Exhibitors from 29 countries & attracted over 13500 Business Visitors during the 4 days of the event.
The 2nd Edition organised from 17 – 20 February 2011 established DELHIWOOD as the most definitive Woodworking Event & as the most important platform for sourcing of Woodworking Machinery. It attracted over 390 Exhibitors from 31 countries & over 23000 Business Visitors.
